Self taught. The schools here teach you to shut up, keep your head down and
do what your masters tell you to do. So I amassed a 2000 volume library and
taught myself about history, literature, politics, cultures, art, etc. Even
my university degree really didn't teach me much, and the graduate program I
am in pisses me off because I am in graduate seminars where none of my
fellow students are even remotely academically prepared to discuss
literature and history on that level. One of my professors told me a few
weeks ago that I am "Distressing the other students" because I talk above
their level. Sad.
