Not usually in the towns at lower altitudes, but trips to the ski 
resorts often involve them. Nowadays they seem to be using more salt 
than before but I also guess its very regional and other councils may 
use less than us.. we do have to swap to winter tyres though, which 
reminds me I need to keep an eye out for the tyre reviews.
