"You should be aware that Q Tips use an adhesive to hold the cotton-
wool onto the stick. This can be dissolved in some fluids applied to
the stick, and the adhesive may be transferred to the surface being
cleaned. I was taught to use paper tissue or cotton wool held in
nylon tweezers to clean lenses, so as not to leave a 'haze'.
I still use cotton buds for primary cleaning of much stuff, but not
where scrupulous cleanliness is important, such as the rear element
of a lens."
