Yes. If the film is ISO 400 or faster, it is easily damaged by the "bug
zappers" that are positioned in a few USPS locations around the country.
Fortunately, they've turned down the dosage in recent years. Initially, it
was pretty ugly as you'd see scorched envelopes.

UPS and Fed-Ex appear to be the better choices right now if you are sending
more than a few rolls.

I did have a conversation, about a year ago, with a major lab which I use
for Provia 400 development and asked them about this. They said that things
are toned down and not nearly as bad as they were several years ago and the
latest formulations of Kodak Portra films are pretty resilient to the
fogging.

Personally, I have found the Ilford BW films of Delta 400 and HP5 to be
sensitive to X-Ray and bug-zapper fogging.  It's not at all uncommon to see
sprocket hole shadows and other nasties.
