The Tamron SP 2X TC (7element) performs well--I think it comes as
adaptall and in OM mount. I have the latter. I did a few test shots
comparing a Tokina (?4 element flavor on a Zuiko 50 f3.5 macro that
hates Teleconverters. The Tamron was a shade better but less than I
expected. It certainly works well with the Tam 80-200. Looking at
Gary Reese data and rankings with the Zuiko 2X and Tamron used on a
couple lenses would suggest the Tam is at least as good and perhaps a
tad better. A bit like looking for small differences in the weight of
your cat by weighing yourself and the cat together over consecutive
days though.

The Oly 1.4X I think may be a bit better than the Tam SP 1.4X-reported
by several who uses it on the Tam 400/4 as well as a similar analysis
of the Gary Reese data. I don't recall ever seeing the Vivitar
compared to the Tamron SP.

Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a good 2x teleconverter. I have a Metroscope
"enthescope" + OM SM-R adapter but it gives
a circular image. When I would use a 2x teleconverter the frame would
be filled
completely.

So is there consesus on the best converter? Would it be the OM one...

All the best,

Iwert.
