Hmm. Looks like Olympus has probably cut a nice deal with a top-dog retailer
that happens to move 80% of the volume in the country. The mom-and-pops
can't compete with the volume sales, so they find it difficult to sell the
product in the face of that competition. Not too different than how B&H
undercuts nearly everybody in the USA.
On one hand I find this another example of how Olympus continually screws up
with the retailers, but on the other hand Olympus looks at the sales numbers
from this one retailer and recognizes that they aren't pulling their own
weight anyway.
If this store isn't moving 100+ units per week, they really don't have much
to complain about.
