Thanks, Chuck. Ordered 2 of the ebay adapters this morning. Will start watching
for the Paramount cords. Going price for the 540 is $69 but they go quickly
(Cameta & KEH commonly have them). Glad I listened to Dr. Flash :-)

Nope, not what you need although the Hama is close. What the Hama lacks

is a 1/4-20 tripod/lightstand socket on the bottom. And even if it was

the right thing the price is outrageous.

The highest quality and most reliable thing you could get is this:

Note the heavyweight cord and use of a miniphone (1/8") plug. The

bottom has a foot that will fit into a cold or hot shoe but the foot can

be taken off by removing a 1/4-20 screw. The resulting 1/4-20 threaded

hole can be used to mount the shoe on tripod or lightstand. The 16

channel slave receivers commonly sold on ebay also have a plug (male)

connector but it's 1/4". This requires a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter plug

(included) and (because both ends are male) a 1/8" miniphone coupler

like this (but without the unnecessary gold plating and gold price)

I use two of these Paramount Cords products but I wouldn't pay $44.50

for them. I bought mine used on ebay for about $20 each. But it took

me 6 months to find them. They don't come up often.

Going a cheaper route you can get something like this:

This uses a short PC connector on both ends. Probably works fine but

less reliable than the Paramount's solid connections. All of the 16

channel units I have seen have a female PC connector on the back in

addition to the 1/4" plug so no additional adapter is required. Note

the 1/4-20 socket on the bottom. That's what you need.

What you don't need is one like this which has a flash contact on the

bottom rather than a 1/4-20 socket. This is akin to your original Hama

If you're going to work with PC cords you might like to have one of

these to re-tighten the tips from time to time.
