Years ago I was photographing a beach restoration project in Michigan. I was
standing on top of the dredger's pipe when I slipped and fell in the sand.
The OM-1, with 24/2.8 on a tripod went sailing through the air and landed in
the sand lens first.
15 years later, it still ground once in a while, but didn't seem to hurt it
any.
