Somebody did.  It just took far too long for the product managers to listen
to the user(s) asking for it.

I shoot events (concerts, stage events) enough where lighted buttons are
important enough that my next camera purchase will have them.  The E-620 is
the first E-body since the E-1 that has seriously gotten my attention and
amazingly enough, it's a low-end camera.
