You can use most features of Microsoft Money 2005 without giving us any information about yourself. However, if you wish to use some of the Internet-based services that make it easy to review updated account information in Microsoft Money 2005, we do need information to provide those services. This Privacy Statement explains the data collection and use in those situations. Please read the complete Microsoft Money 2005 Privacy Statement. Please be aware that this Privacy Statement and the choices you make within Microsoft Money 2005 will not necessarily apply to personal information you may have provided to Microsoft in the context of other, separately operated, Microsoft products or services. In accordance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999, the privacy notice for Microsoft Money 2005 consumers is provided through the inclusion of this Privacy Statement in a clear and conspicuous manner in the Microsoft Money 2005 product (go to Help/About Microsoft Money/Privacy Statement to view this Privacy Statement at any time). By using Microsoft Money 2005, you acknowledge receipt of this Privacy Statement and agree to its terms. Collection of your Personal Information Providing personal information to Microsoft through features of Microsoft Money 2005 is voluntary. There are two principle methods by which you may choose to provide personal information. First, you may voluntarily provide your personal contact information (name, postal address and e-mail address) to Microsoft through the “Sign Up to Receive Special Offers” screen in the Microsoft Money 2005 product. By doing so, you will be consenting to receive offers related to products and services of Microsoft and its partners from time to time. Second, if you choose to use some of the Internet-based services, you may submit sign-in credentials and/or financial data, consisting of some or all of the content of your Money file. Use of your Personal Information Except as otherwise described in this Privacy Statement, personal information you provide to Microsoft via the Microsoft Money 2005 product will not be shared outside of Microsoft and its controlled subsidiaries and affiliates without your permission. If you want to receive information from Microsoft about its products and services, complete the appropriate fields in the “Sign Up to Receive Special Offers” screen. If you do not want to receive this information by postal mail, you should leave the address fields in the “Sign Up to Receive Special Offers” screen blank. If you sign up to receive informational or promotional e-mail from Microsoft, you may later unsubscribe by following the instructions in any e-mail sent to you. Additionally, other companies carefully selected by Microsoft may send you information about products and services through postal mail. If you do not want to receive this information, do not select the “Please send me third party offers” option in the “Sign Up to Receive Special Offers” screen. Microsoft will use the sign-in data for the Internet-based services that you submit via the Microsoft Money 2005 client software to populate and synchronize with your Microsoft Money 2005 on-line features, and to enable collection and download of your personal financial data acquired via the Internet-based services to your Microsoft Money 2005 client software. Microsoft also collects certain information about your computer hardware and software. This information may include information such as your IP address, browser type, domain names, and access times. The information collected is used by Microsoft for the operation of the Internet-based services, to maintain quality of the Internet-based services, and to provide general usage statistics. Microsoft will not use your financial data to target advertising. Sign-in data that you submit via the Microsoft Money 2005 client software to enable the Internet-based services will be subject to the MSN Statement of Privacy, and by using this feature, you acknowledge and accept the terms of that Privacy Statement. Microsoft occasionally hires other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as packaging, sending and delivering purchases and other mailings, answering customer questions about products or services, processing event registration, or performing statistical analysis of our services. We will only provide those companies the information they need to deliver the service, and these companies that receive such information are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information and are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. Microsoft may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Microsoft or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Microsoft and its family of Web sites, or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, users of Microsoft products or services (including its Web sites), or the public. Personal information you submit to Microsoft may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Microsoft or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by submitting the information, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country. Microsoft abides by the safe harbor framework as set forth in the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union. When we transmit highly confidential information over the Internet, we protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. Use of Microsoft .NET Passport This product uses the .NET Passport service to use some of the Internet-based services of Microsoft Money 2005. To learn more about the .NET Passport service and how .NET Passport uses and helps protect your personal information, please read the .NET Passport privacy statement at . Cookies Microsoft uses cookies to help ensure the integrity of the registration process and to personalize the application.
