[OM] stabilization question

OK, here's what I want to know. What exactly is "sensor shift stabilization" 
(or stabilisation)? Is the sensor actually moved physically or is it like 
consumer camcorders where the sensor is "cropped" a bit and the camera moves 
the active area around?
