For people doing studio flash work or generally developing/experimenting with
flash, a flashmeter
is really handy device.
The Digital Calcuflash II, is a well designed meter including full color
correction, that often
goes inexpensively on ebay. It has an LED display and is not quite as easy to
use as a more modern
meter with LCD display. It has a lot going for it technically, including mixed
measurements of
ambient and flash with settable shutter speed ,calibrated measuremnts of Beam
Candle Power Seconds
, sequential cumulative flash measurements, etc. etc. The more advanced
features take some
thought to use fully, but are really useful for technocrats.

I own a couple of Quantum meters, including a calcuflash II.
There a number of different Calcuflash models with varying feature sets and a
lot of different
accesories. At minimum you need the dome diffuser(s) turret which is easy to
lose, so when buying
, make sure one of dome diffusers, is included.
