The wonderful adaptability of the human ear. It is amazing how even I
having a hard ear, my far more musical wife is awed at my
understanding of spoken Engrish by the Japanese, Chinese, Indians,
Israelis and the like — but not yet Scottish, Irish, Cockney, New
Yorkers or Texans.
