I absolutely agree. I know that I'd like to have better high-iso performance,
however...
There is something I've noticed about the E-1 as well as the E-300. When
pushed to the limit, the noise is linear. xMOS sensored cameras have a
non-linear noise-floor. In the shadows you can see harsh steps in the shadows.
It's clean down to a certain point then you immediately fall over the edge.
It isn't "cleanliness" that is important as much as the quality of the dirt.
I'll take the E-1's dirt anyday over the E-3's dirt. It is amazing what ISO
2000 looks like, but you can't do anything with it in post because of the harsh
transition.
But to put things into perspective, The E-1 at ISO 800 produces cleaner images
than Fuji 100 does in 35mm format.
