Hadn't heard about them, I've seen lots of rave reports for the sigma (but
in Nikon mount).

Take a look around, but I doubt you'll find anything small and fast in that
focal length range. The ones that would be closest are probably the OMZ
24/2 or 28/2 and they're both mf. Take a look at the size of the Nikkor
35/1.4, but that's on the long side of what you asked about.
