The article says:
------------------------------------
Infinity (∞)

Olympus deployed this Greek alphabetical symbol to denote the endless
possibilities of its first-generation autofocus XA successor series

Def: Latin for ‘limitless’ or without ending or ‘reduced mass’, derived
from the Latin word ‘infinitas’ or ‘unboundedness’,
------------------------------------

But there is no Greek alphabetical symbol like the infinity symbol. No
one really knows where it comes from. Wikipedia gives the likely
candidates but none are from any alphabet.
