Although the connections have to be the same, the plug/pin configuration
of the internal SATA cables and the external eSATA cables are different.
The card slot bracket has a SATA cable permanently attached to the rear
that connects to any standard SATA port inside and a female eSATA
connector on the outside.
I have this setup (although not this brand) and it works perfectly.
Benchmarks the same as with the drive inside.
The external enclosures are generic inside. You can swap drives of the
type they use around between them. I have one for HS USB 2.0 that will
accept either EIDE or SATA drives, just for a little flexibility.
