Yes, "L" doesn't always mean extra sharp cheddar.  But if you're 
thrashing about in the jungle, wandering the desert or just need a 
hammer the "L" will suit you better.  Some of them are better for 
bragging rights than superior optical performance.  But some of them are 
mighty fine glass as well.
