I was about to suggest Jessops' second hand service, where they used  
to ship an item to your local branch for free so that you could  
inspect it and decide to buy. They've stopped dealing in used  
equipment altogether now though. Jacobs' New Oxford St branch used to  
have a loan E-1 when it first came out, but I'm sure that's long  
gone. At least they still recognise Olympus makes SLRs, unlike Jessops.
