My travel restrictions have been lifted so I tried to apply for a passport.
I had the original of my birth certificate but that wasn't good enough as
the post office required a state certified copy. I ordered it in July and
just now received it. It's a good thing I wasn't in a hurry.

Reminds me of some of the silly stuff practiced in the judiciary. A
certified copy of a document is simply a photocopy with a stamp and
certificate from the court clerk attesting to its authenticity. These are
always sufficient within the state where they originate, but sometimes
what's called an "exemplified copy" is required by some states before they
will honor a copy from a foreign state.
Which brings us to whether or not Chuck and Ali are really who they claim to
be. A document is exemplified by having, in addition to the normal
certification, an affidavit from a judge stating that the clerk is the clerk
and an affidavit from the clerk stating that the judge is the judge. How is
this any different from the Chuck/Ali conundrum? Has anyone ever seen the
two together? Suspicious minds want to know! :-)
