The 50/1,4 sn>1,100,000 is purported to be the sharpest at wide apertures in Gary's test site. Other members have supported this. My very low sn 50 mm 1.8 is nice though is a bit soft wide open, though still better than my 30-70 mm MC Sigma zoom wide open at 50 mm comparing identical photos.
