The other way to look at it is that it clears the marketplace for other 
specialist, dedicated manufacturers of b&w products.  I have happily 
lived without Kodak paper since the days of Medalist and Kodabrom.  I 
hear they have made some very nice papers in the last few years, but 
given Kodak's capricious approach to papers for "fine art" b&w 
printing, I decided to stay away and work with Ilford, Zone VI 
Brilliant, etc.  

I think Tri-X will be the last b&w product from Eastman to bite the 
dust, but I wouldn't want to place any wagers on when that will be.  
The new CEO at the helm has proven that he can be quite aggressive in 
cutting products he doesn't feel are in their key business interests.

I wouldn't expand this to include the deathknell for all analog b&w, 
even though it can certainly feel like it.
