First I've heard of that.  Bought mine new about 20 years ago and blades 
are clean as a whistle.

N$kkors "rest" stopped down, so lore has it that putting them at the 
smallest stop and storing them nose down minimizes the chance of migration 
of lube.  I knew nothing of this until 8 or 10 years ago, and I don't 
really know that it's true, but I've followed the precaution ever since.

The 55/2.8 compares very favorably with Oly macros.  Dunno if it's worth 
the price of a D1X to see how it fares digitally, but if prices do fall, 
the temptation is strong.  It would be more valuable to me than the Zuiko 
50/3.5 as a digital macro since the factor is 1.5 instead of 2.

Thanks for the link.  Never heard of this guy.  There are lots of lens test 
sites.  It makes you flabbergasted at how many lenses N$kon has made 
through the years.
