Ansel Adams had a rare talent for not only seeing what was there to record
but also what it could be after his darkroom magic was complete. He did some
amazing things. Winter6 is a great image, with or without manipulation.

Hi Richard;

I'd say that about 95% of the list are envious of the work you are bringing
us.
It's really nice, from all aspects.

Just remember that you are the person behind the camera, the person on the
spot, and what you see and what you envisage, are your unique creation.

I remember one shot of Ansel Adams's that he took in winter on a trip with
others. It is of a patch of ice on a lake at the foot of a vertical cliff,
and he
made a beautiful image of it. His companions, on seeing the image,
marvelled at it; they had all walked right past the exact same spot and
never
"saw" the image that Ansel did. He not only "saw" it but recorded it.

It is often possible to create images that are a subset of the main image
one
is recording, but, like smart rejoinders one regrets not having the wit to
make
on time in a conversation, one can not always visualise at the same
moment, every effective sub-set of images in the visualisation your mind is
working on at the time.

Keep making these fine pictures; it is obviously good for your soul, and
I'll
bet it is a lot more satisfying than what I'm doing just now; sanding badly
deteriorated house exterior woodwork, filing it, resanding, filling again
etc and
painting. And when the sun is on the work the filler is blindingly white.

As you take more shots you will see more possibilities as well.

I look forward with anticipation to your next shot.

Brian
