I'm saving my pennies for the E-1. There are definitely
improvements with the E-300, but I value quality viewfinders too
much.

In reality, for me, it's almost a toss-up between the 20D and
the E-1. The 20D has a superior sensor and "performance", but
the E-1 has better ergonomics and a really nice image processing
engine. Oh, and the sensor shaker. And the quietness. And the
weather proofing.

The E-1 might be a little doggy in some areas, but I think that
Olympus put the effort into making a SOLID camera that is one
step back from "state of the art". As such, it might not be the
fastest car in the garage, but it's the one that will start
every morning.

BBB, seeing what and how you shoot, I'd definitely lean towards
either the E-1 or a 20D. (oh the horror).
