1. Find a factory-trained Olympus repair-person and stick with them. If you
have to, send the camera to John H. or Clint in the U.S., they both do
top-notch work. Batch your shipments and count on a long, multi-month wait for
the repair; they're very busy.

2. For an OM-1n, you can replace the foam around the back and the mirror damper
yourself, but you won't want to try and remove the top to get at the pentaprism
foam. This is a very small camera for all the mechanics inside and it's not
easy to get the top off or get it back on right unless you're very good. If
you're using the camera, do yourself a favor and send it in for an overhaul.
It will be fine for another 10-20 years at that point. If you try and take off
the top yourself, and can't get it back on, any reputable repairman will likely
either refuse it or charge you double when the camera arrives at his doorstep
in a bag in multiple pieces.
