Walt, it's the kind of question to which there is no answer, except for the
"If you had any doubts, you wouldn't have posed the question" type. So I
guess you have decided, just maybe? But you can get the OM77 for $174.98,
because I will contribute $0.02:

The lenses for the AF/PF cameras do not sell. I see them at $100, and I see
them at $10, it makes no difference to their saleability. Which leads me to
conclude that there ain't many operating AF/PF bodies left (Granted, that
may be because of miscalculations with the clearance in the middle of the
railroad tracks - but I doubt it).

The autofocus with built-in motor would seem to provide the remote operation
you are looking for, though I would prefer to go the route of a winder on an
OM-PC, which would be far less cash for pretty much the same facilities, and
interoperability with the rest of your kit. The OM-PC is a great camera with
dependable metering. Sure, there is no autofocus, but I doubt that I would
want to rely on first generation autofocus to give desired results if I
can't see those results in the viewfinder. Use zone focusing!

$174.98 seems to me to be a generous price for the camera - make sure you
haggle (as if I didn't know you would)!

I noticed again last week that the neighborhood camera shop still has, as
they have had for a year or more, an OM77AF, with what I assume to be a 50mm
AF lens. I know next to nothing about this camera beyond the fact it
autofocues with certain lenses and works with the F280 flash. It looks to
be in quite good condition, at least as near as I can tell without handling
it and from seeing in only through the display case glass.

Question: At an asking price of $175, subject, I'm sure, to at least some
reduction after a moderate amount of dickering, should I give it a go? I
have only 9 bodies, all of the single digit persuasion, and 10 is such a
nice round number. Besides, one never knows when one might get the notion
to put a remotely operated camera in the middle of the railroad tracks, for
instance, or on the brush guard of the OM-4Runner, or up a tree by a
woodpecker hole, or down into a suspected bear den, or in some as yet
unthought of place too hazardous for the likes of a 1, 3, 4 or 4Ti.
