I've got the power :-)

20 layers in a composite image is not a lot. And believe it or not I do
still use the OM4 and 120mb scans from the LS4000.

I've set up a batch system as follows.

Select RAWs in C1 and batch process development to a fast drive. Pick up the
output and batch process through Noise Ninja to another drive. Pick up those
files and batch process through a standard action in PS CS. The PS CS
routine includes a standard and very slow Focalblade pass.

This all takes very little effort on my part but absolutely gobbles hard
drive space and system resources.... but hey, it runs overnight so who
cares. This produces proofs of quite a high quality.

The Noise Ninja step is not necessary for anything other that ISO1600+ but
its easier to batch the lot than to select individual files.

Any real keepers I go back to the RAW to process individually. The rest I
just make a final selection on the proofs, print what I need and archive the
RAWs before clearing the work files of developed files.

Just curious, with the 1D Mark II's noise level and image quality, you still
need that many filters (especially noise filter) and post processing? I
won't argue with the layer you can build but 1GB with your Mark II's image
size? You can of couse if you like.
