Tony Sleep has not really kept this up, but he discusses the uses and 
limitations of the Kodak slide you used. If you look at the many 
scanner reviews you will see that the color rendition of the woman on 
the slide has the same bluish red cast yours does. I think that slide 
is only good to see whether the scanner will capture the range of tones 
on it and the detail in the portrait. It is probably not a good 
instrument for checking the color balance of your scanner even though 
he makes a judgment based on it.

I think of a scan as just another raw image to be fixed so that it 
resembles the slide as much as possible, unless I messed up and am 
trying to improve on the slide.
