Really, now, how can you even think about this? If your eyes are giving out,
you need an AF camera, then you'll need on in MF too. For what most people
shoot 35 for, anything that was made after about 1970 and works will produce
as good results as the equivelent in brand new stuff.
And wear out? Used under normal conditions (not a lot of sand, dirt,
moisture, etc) I can't see why a good quality lens should ever wear out.
