Careful........ hate mail will appear in your personal mailbox!!!

Suggested to Wayne that we seek a materials or ceramics engineering professor to undertake as a special problems project for a senior student. As I emailed Wayne, believe this can be done non-destructively, certainly on the nuclear spectroscopy side and with a tiny sample from the edge on the chemistry side. Don't see why any $ are needed to facilitate. It is an interesting and practical question for academic teaching.
best,
Bill Hunter

Also: Need some specific information re these yaller lenses.
        - one element or more than one
- configuration of the yaller element, i.e. biconvex, biconcave, convex/concave
Thanks.

Wayne,
I think yours is an interesting idea. Would there be
someone from the List who can perform these types of
analysis or had access to a lab that could do it? What
would be the cost to be expected for spectroscopic
analysis?

I reckon if enough members (how many list members are
there, Thomas?)

It fluctuates about 4-500 total subscribers, give and take....deduct
the dublets, those who subscribe to both digest and single-mails and
those of us who receive the list on more than one address and I'd say
we are about 200 "individual people" on the list.

each donate say $5 to $10, we should
go ahead and purchase a lens to sacrifice. I'd

WHAAT? Are you suggesting actually destroying a piece of Zuiko glass?
Heresy!!!

certainly be willing to spend a small amount to learn
what the 1.2/55 being the "state of the art" (as I
understand) in 35mm optics in that era was actually
made of... :-)

...and you suggest that the zuiko being destroyed is the 55/1.2?
Double-heresy. Anyone besides me, who's starting to question if
Thomas Haegin is really a worthy zuikoholic, or if he is an agent
from the Dark Side (tm) who's here to mislead us? !!!

Count me out of your "destroying-zuikos" project. I will, however,
accept donations towards acquireing a 250/2 or something similar, to
use for doccumenting the mob of angry zuikoholics chasing you for
even making this suggestion...:)

Tsk tsk tsk....suggesting that a 55/1.2 be destroyed....and by
someone who shares my name.....what has the world come to?

(hugging his 55/1.2, promising to keep it well out of harms way)
