Hello Carlos,

A while back I bought my second OM-2SP which had similar behaviour to yours - I
found that the shutter would nearly always stick open with the mirror up at
60th and below (sticking more often as speed decreased). It would always close
again a little later, and as I recall moving the switch to battery check would
make it close, also setting shutter speed ring to manual 60th made it close.
Speeds above 60th and all other camera functions appeared to be fine.

I found that by 'working' the camera (no film loaded but wind on & keep firing
the shutter) the sticking gradually became less, so I used my winder set to
continuous and fired it maybe a thousand or so (?) times over the following few
days/weeks (not continuously, just here & there whilst I was sitting at the
computer). Eventually the sticking completely stopped. I have not used this
body for a month or two now however, and it is currently mid-roll so I am
unable to check it's behaviour at the moment. I'm hoping though that with
occasional excercise the problem will permanently dissappear.

The camera is very close to mint condition, it looks as thought it's hardly
seen any use at all. One of my theories is that if it had been sitting idle for
years/decades perhaps some lubricant had gotten a little hard causing 'stiff'
operation and hence the sticking? This is just my guess - I wonder if anyone
else has had a similar experience or perhaps someone with a more intimate
knowledge of the camera's internals could shed some more light on this please?
Perhaps the problem I had has a different cause to Carlos' OM-2S?

Regards to all,

Tyron
