That's what I was pondering as you where typing, 
I have some 5min and 30 min epoxy I can try.
I'll try the harder 30 min for it before my luck runs out.

You've been lucky. It's rounded plastic and the screwhole edges are 
metal. Guess which wears first?

It's easy to fix the adapter, though. Put some epoxy or lesser hard 
adhesive to fill the hole to the brim - and no more...
