I have the 400mm too but strangely it is fine with the 13 and 2 screens
I have, don't get it?

I tend to use the split image screens for everything because of my eye
sight or lack thereof. Yes, half of it does go dark sometimes with the
longer telephotos, however I was using a Tamron 400mm with a 1.4X today
with the split image. It works for me. Bill Barber
