Wow, Boris, that's a rather extreme case of the inverse of the "Midas Touch".
Better luck in the future!

Subject: [OM] Boris' adventures in digital domain

One day with the support of his wife, Boris decides to explore the wonderful
world of digital photography everyone was so excited about.
He became an engineer only by accident. He choose his faith himself. He even
had some of his painting published, but the never ending urge to explore tore
him apart and he had to make a difficult decision. Art or science. He thought
that he could pursue science and still express himself artistically.
This did not agree with the destini's plans and soon his life was occupied by
the science and the life's ordinary obstacles.
A few years earlier than present, he accidently picked up a camera and put a
thought when taking a picture while on vacation.
The picture did not turned bad at all and soon he bought a camera he really
liked. It was an Olympus OM1 with three lenses. AZuiko 50/1.8 and two
Upsilons, yes Upsilon. One 28/2.8 and the other 135/2.8. In eight years, he
exposed about 60 rolls of film and produced some images he liked. He never
showed them to anyone, except for the several posts to the TOPE gallery, which
was a creation by a fellow Olympus enthusiast Olaf.
Then became digital. He faced the difficult decision. To wait a few months
and buy a camera he really likes, or to buy one that mostly suits the needs of
his wife. He decided not to wait.
One day the camera arrived. It was beautiful. It kinda reminded him of his
old trusted OLY, which had its ergonomics so thoughtfully designed. The
controls were unfamiliar, but seemed to be in their natural place.
He sat it up, pointed it at the wife who was making a funny face and captured
the timeless moment. Except that the timeless moment was never captured. The
camera made a loud pop and went dead. Bummer.
Olympus content:
He was also thinking about buying a scanner (later). He wanted to post to TOPE
a picture and knew a friend at work whose computer had a scanner attached to
it. So he brought his two slides for scanning, sat in front of the monitor and
adjusted the settings. Pressed the button and to his surprise, nothing
happened. The computer refused to obey his command. Same thing happened after
each restart....
Tomorrow, Boris will make some calls, to see where his slides can be scanned...
Feeling lower than the smallest piece of grass and refusing to believe in
miracles anymore.
Boris
