Sometimes it pays to have incriminating pictures...

A while back I mentioned to the list about my changing
employment situation. Well, I guess I can give an update.

A few weeks ago, I was informed that my services would no longer
be needed in the department in which I serve. Instead of just
hoisting me out the window, they did seek to move me to another
department. At first, they tried making me an Internet Geek
Level II. The new boss and I, unfortunately, cannot see
eye-to-eye and it definitely wasn't a good job for me. So
things were not looking good. It was getting downright ugly.

Meanwhile, I'm spewing out a few resumes to various companies.
One guy broke confidence and forwarded an email in which I was
seeking employment opportunities to the CEO of my company. Not
cool. (That's one vendor that will forever be on my blacklist)
However, what it did do was raise an awareness that I was
hitting the road, so the VPs were given instructions to "find
that boy something".

Starting Monday, I'm returning back to my old department back in
engineering. However, I'll be involved in a special project and
will probably be the liason to the marketing department.

I've got mixed feelings about it. I'm being punished in one
aspect, but given an opportunity in another aspect. We'll see
how it works out. If it doesn't work out, my resume efforts did
get results. There might be a gig opening up which would be a
REALLY cool job for a company in Northern California.
(Telecommute/one-week per month in office). (I agreed to not
pursue other opportunities for the next three months, but that
doesn't mean that I won't be pursued--after all, what's done is
done).

I'm glad for continued employment, and glad that some people
still want me. It's nice to be needed.

Now, I've got to go finish this huge presentation for a project
needing approval Monday morning. The project I'll be managing.
Talk about creating your own job.
