Is this PanF or PanF+

The shoulder on the older PanF led to quite a bit of compression
of the highlights. Learn how to shoot it and you'll be home
free. The shoulder tends to start kicking in about Zone VI-VII.

PanF(+) is extremely fine-grained and the grain is very
comfortable. Some films possess unnatural grain (TMX, TMY)
which, although finer or sharper than competing films doesn't
look as natural when enlarged. PanF demands to be enlarged!

I'm very partial to PanF+ developed in Ilford DD-X 1:4.
However, I am experimenting with it at 1:9 and so far I like
what I see. I wouldn't recommend it for original PanF because
of the shoulder, but it does give the film a nice "edge". At
1:9, the acutance goes up, and so does the grain. At 1:4, DD-X
gives you sharp edges and creamy smooth gradients.

To put things in perspective, a well exposed and processed PanF+
negative in Acufine or DD-X is nearly impossible to focus in the
enlarger with the grain magnifier. Even at 8x10.

PanF+ rocks.
