Here in America, parents of new kids can take off a few weeks - without pay.
Or, as in my case, can get laid off without health insurance both while the
wife is 3 months pregnant and again by another company 2 months after the
birth of our daughter. (Please, no sympathy cards, I'm just one of many and
am back in the game again.)
