[OM] Flame Email from Kenmore Camera

Subject: [OM] Flame Email from Kenmore Camera

Hey "guys", look at this email that I got today from someone at Kenmore camera
in Washington after they read my "review" of their selection of OM gear. BTW,
this is what I said about their stuff:

"Moderate inventory but very unteresting. Lots of 50's I wonder why? Did
they buyout a Zuiko 50mm collector ;-) "
Look here for the link to their inventory
http://www.kcamera.com/main/invusd/usedol.htm.

If I had been unfair, I would have apologized, but I'm sticking with my guns on
this one.

===> This is my response.<=====

Mary,

I only go on what I see online, and if you look right now at YOUR Olympus
page, you will see:

2 OM-1 bodies
4 OM-10 bodies
1 OM-G body
20 50/1.8 lenses !!
2 135/2.8
2 28/3.5
4 35/2.8
(I didn't count non-OM stuff or minor accessories)

So what did I say wrong? Here's what I wrote 2 years ago:
"Moderate inventory but very unteresting. Lots of 50's I wonder why? Did
they buyout a Zuiko 50mm collector ;-) "

What you have pales when compared to a shop like KEH. TWO pro bodies
(OM-10's are throwaways, IMO)? Four different lenses? And I don't know of
any other online vendor that lists 20 50mm f/1.8 lenses! Why would you do
that? Obviously they don't sell well, or they wouldn't be there in that
volume two years later. The market is VERY soft on those lenses, no matter
what their quality.

Sorry that you find my comment appalling, but I call it like I see it. For
someone looking to add to a moderate OM-System setup, you offer very little.
Perhaps someone who has nothing would find something interesting. I don't
know.

And perhaps your stock is much better than "many of the camera stores
around" in many ways or vs. the local competition; I can't speak to that.
But versus the ultimate equalizer, The Internet, the stock is definitely
also-ran.
