If the mechanical settings don't bring the mirror down, then the shutter is
probably overwound. That can happen when the camera gets cold, the levers
get a little sluggish allowing the wind mechanism to go too far. A CLA will
fix it, and it was probably due for one if the cold weather affected the
levers.
