On the N80: In december, my wife took an African safari, up close and
personal with the predators. She took an N80, with the 80-400VR lens. I hate
to say this, as I have been shooting, mostly full-time professionally, since
the late sixties, and she got tremendous results. sharp hand held, too.
Probably 450f what she shot was equal to any of the regular pros. I was
completely impressed with the results, especially since she knows only a
very little more about photography than my cat, and no experience, only
about two hours practice before the trip.
That said, the camera is a very different beast than ours. Way, way too
complex. Very little ergonomic qualities for the pre-video game crowd.
