[OM] Advice on Portrait photography

How about a bed sheet or other piece of material as a backdrop in lieu of 
white painted concrete?  Since you are going to be using B & W, the color 
won't matter so much as the grey tone/contrast, yeah?  It can add some 
texture to the background, and should help to soften the light some, too, eh?
