I believe it. One of my favorite auto racing photographers, Jesse Alexander,
is aligned with Nash Editions (well known Iris fine art printer owned a
pretty famous musician as well) and his old black and white work printed on
Iris printers are superb. (And priced accordingly I might add.) A real treat
when he has his display at Monterey Historics each year. (Jesse's site is
www.jessealexander.com BTW.)

For art reproductions the results can be amazing. My mom runs the electronic
design and multimedia dept at our local college. She is an outstanding
artist and graphic designer. At a conference she met a Japanese water color
artist who told my mom of sending original watercolors to a service bureau
for scanning and Iris reproduction, the goal being to clone the original
artwork as best as possible (matching paper materials, etc.). I don't recall
the exact details, but it was something to the effect of the original was to
be sent on to a client and the reproductions returned to the artist for her
portfolio. The service bureau sent the artist the Iris print and she was
fooled, thinking it was her original art. The "clone" was that good.
