Most books and articles that go into scanning with any depth at all
caution using even multiples or divisions of digital images to get
the best quality. You can even test it using Photoshop, at least
with my older version. Use View at 25, 50, or 100 percent and things
look pretty good. View your image at 33 1/3 or 66 2/3 and notice a
definite drop in quality on the computer screen. Of course the
adjustment for printing should be finer, but it demonstrates the
difficulty.
