That sort of result matches my experience (with other digital cameras), as
well. Another drawback to using the camera to transfer the images is the
requirement to have the camera powered up. Transfers then either drain the
camera's batteries or require hooking the camera to a wall-wart for power.
The card readers are powered right from the USB connection.
