Am I out of touch with prices?
I have a 35/70 3.5~4.5 where the focusing ring has come loose from the
internals - it feels like its a friction grip and still works if I'm
carefull.
Quoted repair costs are (in GB pounds) 60 - 85 + parts + VAT (17.5%).....
around $130USD. At that sort of price I'm tempted to dismember it myself - I
was looking for an ultra cheap 50 1.8 for my first experiment but.... Shame really as it was my favorite 'walk about' lens. Ian

Had this problem once. I think all I did was to remove the rubber focus grip and tighten the exposed set screws. No problems since.
