Just very simple - Cooperation, Fuji SLR DCs  also use Nikon lenses, they
can benefit from this. If Nikon didn't do that, Canon, Minolta, Pentax or
even Olympus will take over. Just like Kodak, it once have both Nikon and
Canon bodies for their professional DSLR (now only Nikon). But Kodak now
also cooperate with Olympus in the DSLR development, who know later there
will not be a Kodak DSLR which uses Olympus new AF SLR lenses.

For the servicing, I think they will service their own brand's of products.
Servicing is not a big deal like the development and production.
