C.H., I'm in your camp on this one. Along with the big white glass (long
gone from my hands) and the 35-80/2.8 (and the Tamron 80-200/2.8) the 90/2
produces the most impressive photos of any Zuiko that I've used (which is a
large majority). It's in the same vein as Leica lenses where the images
just jump off the print/transparancy at you. The 85/2, in contrast, is
very nice, but it's not as bitingly "3-D". I'm not sure which lens I'd use
for a portrait, it depends on the subject and the light.

But there was one thing I had missed, it is the color rendering and
saturation, which is properly the best among all Zuiko tele I have. I
once sold this lens to my friend and he told me his feel about the
qualities of this lens, later due to some reasons he sold it back to
me and I started notice about the other quality of this lens besides
just resolution. It has more 3-D look than the other Zuikos and the
color saturation is very high. The contrast of this lens is also high
when stopped down, usually such lens (like the 50/2) is not so
suitable for portrait with negative but this lens is quite unusual, it
performs very fine in this area. Three of my friends here has the 90/2
and all like it very much.
