Dunno about your dad, John, but 50 years ago I was using both
Wesson and Gossen meters for exposure 'estimation', and composing on
a 6X6 Rolleiflex TLR screen or a 4X5 Graphic, and snap shooting with
a Leica IIIF... those weren't exactly the stone ages.

Compared with the latest electronic marvel with computational power
of an early desktop computer to control exposure, shutter, focus on
whatever you are looking at, manipulate CCD image,  motors to move
lens elements, wind film? Yeah, that was stone age, maybe even
Jurassic.
