I actually found that review of the iS-3; it was July 1993 Pop Photography.
But the review that I remembered re the 'free' camera with the lens must
have been Modern Photography's review of the original iS-1. I have it
somewhere, but have not found it as yet!

If my memory doesn't fail me the iS-3 was tested by Pop Photography in one
of their '93
issues. Probably this is the article you're looking for.
